This group is formed in 2011 when Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Ashton Irwan and Calum Hood all attended “Norwest Christian College”.

They started posting videos of performing covers of famous songs on Social media websites and also on Hemmings YouTube channel page. On 27 January 2014, 5SOS announced that they would be setting up their own label, Hi or Hey Records.  In the 2018 Guinness World Records, 5 Seconds of Summer were named as the most popular group on Snapchat.  In 2022, the band announced their fifth studio album, 5SOS5, which was released on 23 September 2022.
